FIFA to Inspect 2030 World Cup Bid Cities in November and December

FIFA announced on Tuesday its intention to conduct inspection tours of the cities bidding to host the 2030 World Cup in Spain, Portugal, and Morocco during November and December, as part of the crucial phase of selecting the stadiums that will host the tournament's matches.

A FIFA delegation will visit the candidate cities and stadiums in the three countries to assess their readiness and their compliance with the organizational and technical requirements for hosting the global event.

FIFA has not yet finalized the list of host stadiums, nor has it determined the stadium that will host the final match, given the competition between Spain and Morocco to host the most important match of the tournament.

The scheduled visits include the Moroccan cities of Agadir, Casablanca, Fez, Marrakech, Rabat, and Tangier; Lisbon and Porto in Portugal; and Barcelona, Bilbao, Las Palmas, Madrid, San Sebastián, Seville, and Zaragoza in Spain.

FIFA explained that it may add other stadiums to the visit program during the evaluation process.

The international federation added that the distribution of matches and the determination of the match categories to be hosted by each city will only be finalized after the final list of stadiums and host cities is approved and the tournament schedule is completed.

The three opening matches of the 2030 World Cup will be held in Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay, in celebration of the centenary of the first edition.
