Swedish automaker Volvo announced Sunday the appointment of Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Škoda Auto, as its new chairman and CEO.
Zellmer will succeed current CEO Håkan Samuelsson no later than October 1, according to a company statement.
Volvo Chairman Eric Lie said Zellmer brings "established expertise in the automotive sector" and "extensive international leadership experience."
"I am delighted to be joining Volvo at this important stage in the company's development," Zellmer said.
Samuelsson, 75, recently announced his intention to step down when his contract expires. He led Volvo from 2012 to 2022 and is scheduled to return to the position in April 2025.
