Google has announced a suite of new AI-powered features for its Google Photos app, including advanced editing tools, a new interactive button, and an expanded search function.
The new features allow users to easily edit photos using voice or text commands. Users can describe desired edits, such as removing a specific object or enhancing facial features. The redesigned photo editor is now available on iOS, having been exclusive to Pixel 10 phones when it launched last August.
The updates also include Personalized Edits, which allows users to easily modify people's features in photos simply by typing the desired commands, which the app then executes accurately and automatically.
Google has also added the AI-powered Nano Banana image model to the app, enabling users to recreate their photos in creative artistic styles, such as classic paintings or comics, and even transform photos into cartoon characters or vintage portraits.
With its redesigned interface and the addition of an "Ask" button, Google Photos now allows users to request information about a photo or discover similar moments.
In related news, Google has expanded its AI-powered search feature in the Photos app to over 100 countries worldwide. This enables users to benefit from smart search and image recognition tools. The company stated that the feature will support more than 17 new languages, including Arabic, French, German, Hindi, Japanese, and Portuguese, making the image search experience more comprehensive and user-friendly globally.
