UEFA has announced that the final of Euro 2028, to be held in England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland, will take place at Wembley Stadium in London on July 9, while the opening match will be held in Cardiff on June 9.
The tournament will feature 51 matches and will include 24 teams divided into six groups, as was the case in the 2016 edition in France. The top two teams from each group will advance to the round of 16, along with the four best third-placed teams.
The matches will be played in nine stadiums across eight cities (Cardiff, Dublin, Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, and London).
UEFA stated, "Eight of the nine host stadiums, excluding Wembley, will each host a Round of 16 match, while the four quarter-final matches will be split between the host cities: Cardiff, Dublin, Glasgow, and Wembley. To ensure sporting fairness and equal treatment, the winners of the Round of 16 will play their quarter-final matches at a different venue."
Wembley Stadium in London will host all matches of the final week, with the two semi-finals taking place on July 4th and 5th, and the final on July 9th.
