Emirates Airline announced on Monday an order for 65 additional Boeing 777-9 aircraft, part of the 777X family, valued at $38 billion, in a significant boost for the American manufacturer on the first day of the Dubai Airshow.
With this order, Emirates' total orders from Boeing rise to 315 wide-body aircraft, including 270 777X models.
Emirates is the largest airline in the Middle East, headquartered in Dubai, and the largest operator of Boeing 777 aircraft.
The airline also ordered an additional 130 GE9X engines, bringing its total orders for these engines with GE Aerospace to 540.
"This is a long-term commitment that supports hundreds of thousands of high-value jobs in the manufacturing sector," said Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and CEO of the Emirates Group, at a press conference.
He added, "We will continue to work closely with Boeing to ensure we receive our first 777-9 aircraft starting in the second quarter of 2027."
Emirates had previously expressed its dissatisfaction with the repeated delays in the delivery of the 777X aircraft.
