"Ketamine Queen" pleads guilty in Matthew Perry's death

 

The woman suspected of selling the ketamine that killed "Friends" star Matthew Perry in 2023 pleaded guilty in a California court on Wednesday, avoiding a trial.

Jasvin Sangha, 42, known in some Hollywood circles as the "Queen of Ketamine," faces up to 65 years in prison as part of a plea agreement that includes multiple charges against her, including distribution of ketamine resulting in death.

Her lawyer, Mark Geragos, told AFP in mid-August that the British-American woman, currently in pretrial detention, "acknowledges responsibility for her actions."

This guilty plea avoids a jury trial and prompts prosecutors to drop some of the charges initially brought against her.

The death of Matthew Perry, who was found unconscious in a jacuzzi in his apartment in October 2023, shocked "Friends" fans and sparked a wave of tributes to the late actor in Hollywood. The actor, who played Chandler Bing in the hit series, had spoken publicly about his struggles with addiction.

He had been taking ketamine under medical supervision as part of his depression treatment sessions. However, this legal drug is sometimes abused for recreational or recreational purposes. According to the investigation, Perry relapsed into addiction in the fall of 2023.

In addition to Sangha, four people are being tried for their involvement in his death. All have previously agreed to plead guilty.

According to the investigation, Jasvin Sangha sold dozens of doses of ketamine to Matthew Perry. During a search of her home, investigators found 80 vials of ketamine, along with methamphetamine and cocaine.

Investigators were initially drawn to Sangha's lavish party-going personality, who regularly posted photos on Instagram of her lavish trips, sometimes in private jets, and her glittering jewelry.

Regarding ketamine, Sangha boasted of her ability to "fulfill any request," according to the investigation, thanks to her connections with a "chef" and a "scientist."
