FIFA announced on Friday evening that more than 4.5 million fans from 216 countries and territories participated in the first phase of ticket sales for the 2026 World Cup, through the Visa pre-sale draw.
This phase represents the first opportunity for football fans to secure their seats at the upcoming World Cup, scheduled for June and July 2026 in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
As expected, residents of the host countries topped the list of applicants, followed by fans from Germany, England, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Spain, and Italy.
“These numbers are not only exceptional, but also reflect the global enthusiasm for the 2026 World Cup,” FIFA President Gianni Infantino said in a statement.
Infantino added, "The whole world wants to participate in this historic event, which will bring together 48 teams in 16 cities and represent the beginning of a new era for football."
According to the statement, the draw results will be announced starting Monday, September 29, while ticket purchases will begin on October 1. Tickets are subject to availability, but success does not guarantee tickets.
Group stage tickets start at $60, with purchase options including per match, per team, or per city. FIFA will also launch an official ticket resale platform starting October 2, allowing fans to safely sell their tickets.
The second sales phase, called the Early Ticket Draw, will begin on Monday, October 27. FIFA invites fans to visit the official website (FIFA.com/tickets) for details on all upcoming stages and to avoid unofficial channels.
On the other hand, the statement mentioned that hospitality packages, including individual tickets for a single match and tickets for multiple matches, are available through the website (FIFA.com/hospitality).
